New Year's Day

New Year's Day we went to my grandparents house to celebrate the day. We have some traditions that we keep every year. One is my Grandfather's homemade chili. This year he shared the recipe with ME.I spent the whole day with him writing down everything we added to his Big pot. I know lots of new things about cooking and about listening to story's he shared with me. It was cold outside but the chili smelled so good!
We did not eat our chili(that weighed 40 lbs. when we were done)for lunch. Grandma was inside making our black-eyed peas, fried cabbage and homemade sausage balls. Another tradition! But that chili was perfect at supper.

  1. Yum! I love chili, especially homemade! It's perfect with saltine crackers. My kids like cheese in theirs, but not me. Of course, they like cheese on EVERYTHING. The weirdos.
